The Action for Children charity has published new research which examines how childcare professionals can develop effective relationships with vulnerable parents, and how such relationships can make a difference for children and young people. The report concludes that an assertive approach from practitioners is essential to challenge parents to take ownership of issues that need to be addressed.
The full text of Effective Relationships with Vulnerable Parents to Improve Outcomes for Children and Young People is online now. Action for Children have also produced a skills framework for professionals working in this area, and an organisational framework outlining support and procedures which should be in place.
